Chennai (Tamil Nadu) : With income tax officials raiding the Chennai residence of Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Friday confirmed that it had filed two complaints with the Election Commission office here in which it has accused ruling AIADMK leaders of distributing money post the bye-polls in the R K Nagar assembly constituency.

DMK leader T K S Elangovan said, "We have filed two complaints, two complaints to the CEC here that T T V Dinakaran of the ruling faction of the AIADMK is distributing money on a large scale. About 30 people belonging to that group were also arrested for distributing money and money was also captured," Elangovan told ANI.

"This is going on, and I think, that the election commission has roving squads now to catch people who are distributing money. They are strengthening the patrolling," he added.

In a major jolt to the Sasikala faction of the AIADMK, the income tax department earlier in the day conducted raids at Chennai residence of Baskar.

This comes ahead of the April 12 R K Nagar Assembly bye-election. (ANI)
