Kathmandu : Nepal's main opposition party, the CPN-UML (Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist), continued to stall proceedings in parliament for the second consecutive day on Wednesday in protest against the government's decision to increase the number of local levels in 11 districts.

The CPN-UML is against the government's decision to increase the number of local levels in the southern plains of Nepal, a move by the government to appease disgruntled parties.

The opposition is arguing that the revision of local levels cannot be done after the announcement of the election schedule.

The CPN-UML demanded an answer from Minister of Federal Affairs and Local Development Kamal Thapa and disrupted the proceedings.

Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi and Thapa briefed about the government move.

Thapa said the revision, in the constitution, is as per the agreement and support of various political parties adding that the revision of boundaries of Province no.2 had to be redone as some faults were identified.

However, the Opposition MPs expressed dissatisfaction over the briefing and demanded for a satisfactory answer. (ANI)
