Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced that it has become the first company in India to introduce completely type tested low voltage panels with the launch of its VarSet range of APFC panels.

These APFC panels, will be manufactured in the Schneider Electric's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility compliant to ISO 50001 in Bangalore. The VarSet range will comply with global safety standards like IEC 61921 and IEC 61439-1 and 2.

This move is expected to make industrial power supply far more safe and reliable and help get rid of Power Factor penalties leading upto 30 percent better energy efficiency.

Traditionally APFC panels in India have been designed only on the basis of electrical know how of end user, Consultant or Panel Builder and limited international safety standard was being followed to guide the design of APFC panels. So far, PFC panels were declared type tested only on the basis of basic tests like S/C, HV test and Insulation resistance test, and the same could not be challenged. However, with advent of Reactors and Thyristor switches in APFC panels, incidents of failure and fire have increased alarmingly necessitating introduction of higher safety standards.

Schneider Electric has now become the first company to introduce the most comprehensively tested APFC panels in India which are fully compliant to international safety certifications. VarSet has been specially designed keeping in mind the needs of industries like F&B, pharma, FMCG, auto, IT, marine, cement and mining.

"We are proud to announce that in line with our commitment to provide safe and reliable power to industries, we have set a new benchmark in India as far as safety standards for APFC panels are concerned. Given the focus of the government on Make in India, compliance to international safety and efficiency standards like IEC 61921 and IEC 61439-1/2 was the need of the hour to improve the overall safety and reliability of industrial operations," said VP India and SAARC - Buildings Business, and Schneider Electric India, Shrinivas Chebbi.

The VarSet range of A PFC panels has one of the safest and reliable designs in India. Its superior thermal design enables it to operate even at 50 degrees C ambient temperature, while its lower operating costs helps in achieving energy efficiency. (ANI)
