Panaji : Goa Chief Minister and former defence minister Manohar Parrikar has averred that resolving the Kashmir issue is not easy and that a long term policy is needed to cater the issue.
Speaking at an event at the 126th birth anniversary celebration of Babasaheb Ambedkar here on Friday, Parrikar said that his tenure as the defence minister was not a cake walk as there was immense pressure on him.
"There was a lot of pressure on me. It is not easy to resolve the Kashmir issue. There is a need for a long-term policy to resolve the Kashmir issue, "said Parrikar.
Asserting that discussions bring multiple opinions to the fore which might create hindrances in decision making, Parrikar further advocated for minimal discussion on sensitive issues like Kashmir.
"There are some things on which discussions should be minimal. These things need to be made to happen instead. Discussions can be spoilers. The media asked me about some issues today morning. I asked them: do you want this thing to happen, or do you want it to become news?" he said. (ANI)
