Karnataka Police DIG D. Roopa awarded President's medal

Karnataka Police, DIG D Roopa, who pointed to Sasikala getting preferential treatment in jail, was on Saturday awarded the President's Medal for meritorious service.

In a function held at Raj Bhawan in Bengaluru, Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala awarded the President's medal to the top cop in the state.

She was the only woman to have been awarded the prize today.

Roopa was DIG (Prisons) when she made the allegations in a report submitted to Home Department and Director General of Police for Prison Department H N Sathyanarayan Rao, in which she claimed that certain prisoners, including Sasikala, were being given preferential treatment in Bangalore prison.

Following the reports, she was transferred to the traffic department as the Inspector General of Police and Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety. (ANI)
