Srinagar : The General Officer Commanding of the the Indian Army's 15th Corps, Lieutenant General J.S. Sandhu, on Wednesday said Kashmir needs youth to participate to regain peace and harmony.

"I am delighted to see 'Jashn-e-Baramulla' and the most appreciable thing is that the youth have contributed immensely in it. This shows that people want peace and harmony in the valley. At this moment, Kashmir is going through a sensitive time and we have to get past it. We want to make Kashmir peaceful once again, but for this, the public also has to extend a helping hand," Sandhu said.

"Kashmir needs to be taken towards happiness. The matter of militants is a concern for us all, but we are initiating action, and this time, the snow has also helped us a lot. Last Saturday, we neutralised two militants near Budgam," he added.

"We do expect that the common man will be with us and we always make sure they remain safe. We are continuing with the operations against the terrorists. We have been able to stop them from crossing over to India till now," he asserted.

The two day Jashn-e-Baramulla was organised by the Indian Army on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Degree College Ground in Baramulla district.

Celebrities like Dia Mirza and Mohammad Azharuddin added glitz to the event.

The multi faceted event hosting a range of programmes included a job fair by thirteen prominent companies wherein 'walk-in-interviews' and immediate job placements offered to the youth was fundamental in meeting aspirations of the talented youth of the region.

Sufi musical concert by Shafi Sopori, Zunaid Mir Group and Wasim Group, reflecting upon rich culture, traditions and values of Kashmiriyat added to the glitter of the day.

The enthusiastic response of the local population including the youth has once again highlighted the rapport between the Jawan and the Awam (people). (ANI)
