The Uttar Pradesh Anti-terrorist Squad (UPATS) along with their counterparts in Maharashtra have arrested one more ISI agent from Mumbai on Thursday morning.
According to ATS sources, the agent has been identified as Javed Naviwala who was instrumental in providing funds to Altaf Hanif Qureshi (33), arrested by UP ATS from Nagpada area of Mumbai on Wednesday night. Javed was arrested from a house in Agripada and is believed to have provided funds to Altaf on instructions of the ISI.
"Altaf is in the business of hawala operations for Javed and had transferred an amount to the main accused Aftab Ali arrested by UP ATS earlier from Faizabad. A probe is on to find out the whole trail of the funds," said an ATS officer.
Police have also seized one mobile phone and cash of Rs 71,57,800 from Altaf.
ATS UP has registered a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code(IPC) and Official Secrets Act.
