Hardik Patel's ex-aide Nikhil Savani quits BJP, says party offering lollipops, fulfilling nothing

In a fresh trouble for BJP in Gujarat, Hardik Patel's former aide Nikhil Savani who had left Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti to join the party has quit saying, he was upset with the BJP offering money to Patidar leaders.

The development comes after Patidar leader Narendra Patel alleged that he was offered a whopping amount of Rs 1 crore to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) amid inching state polls.

"Heard about Rs 1 crore offer by BJP to Narendra Patel. I am upset, leaving BJP today. I congratulate Narendra Patel. He comes from a small family but still, he didn't choose Rs 1 crore," Savani said addressing media.

He, however, clarified that he wasn't offered money to join BJP. "Now I resigned because they are just offering lollipop, fulfilling nothing," he said.

Savani also said that he will seek Rahul Gandhi's appointment and put forward his viewpoint before him.

Recently, Patidar leaders Reshma Patel and Varun Patel announced their decision of joining the BJP following their meeting with party Chief Amit Shah.

However, unfazed by the announcement of his key aides, Hardik Patel said in a tweet he that will continue to fight for the people.

"The centipede will continue to run even if some of his legs break. People are with me, and I will continue to fight for them," he said.

The Congress, which is out of power in Gujarat for 22 years, is wooing leaders such as Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani and Alpesh Thakor who have a significant support base in their respective communities.
