The BJP government in Haryana is planning to start 'PG hostels for cows and buffaloes' on 50-100 acres land in all major towns of the state. The pilot project might be started in Hisar as there is enough space available there.
The idea is to aid people living in these urban areas to rear their own cows and produce milk, State Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Om Prakash Dhankar told CNN-News18.
The minister said that these hostels would also help those who wish to do ‘gau seva’ for religious rights.
However, INLD leader Abhay Chautala has mocked the initiative, saying human beings do not have a place to stay and they’re planning to have PG accommodations for cows.
Meanwhile, Haryana Gau Seva Aayog Chairman has claimed that the proposal was originally made by them. " We had proposed hostels for cows, but the government wants it both for cows and buffaloes," said Bhani Ram Mangla.
